our antique furniture, paintings and objet d’arts, world wide.
This section of the web site concentrates on attractive and functional modern coffee
tables, low tables and occasional tables, which incorporate unusual antique elements.
Mallett also mount antique porcelain and glass vases as unique lamps. To browse
our collections you may click on the left hand images to go to our home page or
you may make a selection form the left hand menu or from the links below.
To accompany the Mallett decorative art collections, we produce modern hand made
furniture. These special products are designed to be used alongside and to complement
antique furnishings, or as central pieces for modern interiors.
All of our low tables incorporate antique elements. The tables are often designed
to show off Chinese lacquer work, Chinese wall paper panels which are typically
bright and colourful; large marquetry panels and needleworks are also used. More
unusual designs are also employed, for example fantastic shell work designs and
collections of remarkable fossils lend themselves to dramatic and interesting designs.
Each table base is finished in colour, texture and tone, chosen to compliment the
item it displays.
Mallett also produce two tier tables, finished is several attractive styles, painted
to imitate oriental lacquer, veneered with high quality walnut, satinwood or mahogany
as well as other designs. Some may be made to display smaller antique elements such
as attractive plaster casts, panels of marquetry, boulle work or oriental red cinnabar
lacquer depending on availability.
The large selection of high quality lamps we produce is unique, there are single
lamps and pairs all created from fine and highly decorative antique vases. Each
lamp is quite distinct in style and form. The proportions and decoration of the
vases are carefully considered before starting any work. The shape of giltwood base,
and the silk shade is then designed specifically to suit the vase. This is an expensive
procedure but one that ultimately ensures that each lamp is perfect and well balanced.
