A watercolour on paper with a view through pavillioned gardens, leading to the interior of a house belonging to the scholar, Li.

The right hand lantern reading 'Chen-fu', meaning 'the Chen's house', and the left lantern reading'Zhong-shu-di', meaning 'the mansion of the vice minister'. The figures in the foreground are engaged in the examination of calligraphic scrolls with ladies on the balcony.
